Open access week is an annual event since the year 2007, which makes Open Access positions stronger and influential. The theme of 2018 International Open Access Week, October 22-28, is “Designing Equitable Foundations for Open Knowledge”.
Being an open access publisher, SciPress also takes an active part in this event as we know how important open knowledge is and how much support it requires to be accessible and available for scientific community whenever there is an internet.
Once we got to know the theme of this year OA week, we decided to make an analysis of our contribution to this worldwide movement and to designing equitable foundations for open knowledge. The results are diverse and at the same time show us which way to choose to go further in strengthening OA positions.
By introducing the immediate, or ‘gold’ open access model, we give readers free and instant access, enabling faster discovery of the latest original research presented by high-quality stand-alone papers, special thematic volumes, or selected papers from international conferences. As we are keen to make the published articles more visible among the scientists and researchers worldwide, the journals are represented in the library catalogues and relevant abstracting and indexing databases.
All our authors retain copyright of their work through a Creative Commons attribution license that clearly states how readers can copy, distribute, and use their attributed research, free of charge.
By implementing innovative algorithms and technologies SciPress Team has developed a user-friendly online publishing system thereby the publishing process has become easy, transparent, and intuitive for all participants.
Aiming to facilitate submission process for author, in July, 2018 we abolished the submission fee for all of our journals. Hence, the publishing research findings became easier and affordable for all authors.
Beside this, the waiver policy is worked out for individual authors.
We cannot keep aloof from any researcher who cannot obtain funding from institutions or research funding bodies. In order to open the results of the studies to scholarly community, we apply Waiver and Discounts Policy to authors who need help in covering publication costs (Article processing charges). Discounts and waivers priority are given to our authors with proof of residence in countries that are classified by the World Bank as Low-income economies or Lower-middle-income economies.
SciPress Institutional Partnership Program is perfect for institutions looking for ways of supporting their researchers in Open Access publishing. It simplifies payment process and provides financial assistance by reducing fees associated with Open Access publishing. We can adjust our invoicing procedure to meet the needs of each institution.
We always remember and appreciate great work of our reviewers. Thus, our implemented Reviewer Recognition Program aims to engage reviewers and reward them for the work they do. Particularly, SciPress provides discount vouchers and waivers to selected reviewers in recognition of their contribution to quality control of the manuscripts submitted to all our journals.
To make sure our authors can fully benefit from modern solutions implemented by the industry, SciPress Ltd. successfully cooperates with Crossref, ORCID, SHERPA/RoMEO. Hence, we endorse the universal practice of self-archiving as enables to support authors’ intentions to distribute their findings worldwide.
Among other things E-Journal Preservation Service provided by PORTICO allows us to secure the published content in any circumstances and also to indemnify the authors against the loss of their valuable work results.
To be on the edge of the tendencies in OA community and OA publishing, SciPress participates in OA conferences. One of them was COASP 10, hold September 17-19, 2018 at Vienna, which one more time acknowledged our right way we keep and inspired for further improvements and stronger foundations for our open access resource.
We are keen to move forward and look for new solutions with the aim to provide the best possible support and services to our authors and best possible openness to the content present in journals which are owned and published by SciPress Ltd.
